Fifth lecture NIP191

Prison food has always seem to be a mystery to public and it was surprising to see how different countries provide different foods to prisoners. Whilst Japan provides a nutrition-balanced meal for prisoners, some countries just provide very energy-dense food such as burgers and it was actually shocking to see such a variation.

Fourth lecture NIP191

The theme of this week’s lecture was elderly nutrition and we started off with an informative lecture as usual. A guest speaker came in and started off explaining why is there a need for texture modified food for elderly. He then provided some of the foods his company developed for different textures which was the highlight of the day.

Third lecture NIP191

This week’s lecture is based on hospital food provision and it was very informative. A guest speaker came in and talked about diet and cancer and it was interesting to find out that diet actually plays a role in cancer prevention. We went to the kitchen and did some cooking for the second part of the lecture and called it a day. I did some extra reading around the topic after getting home, just because I felt a little inspired by today’s guest speaker

Second NIP191 lecture

Went into the lecture with excitement, knowing that there will be a guest speaker coming into our lecture. The speaker came in shared her experience working for Manchester Fayre and it was inspiring. Her experience really had showed how nutrition in practice, in real life actually looks like, especially in schools. It reminded me of my placement that I did last year and I started thinking that how nice it would be if there were such passionate working professionals in Macau for schools.

First NIP191 lecture

Today marked the first session of NIP191. We first went in and did a brief introduction about ourselves, some general information on this module and how is this module going to be assessed. In the afternoon, we did some cooking of our own choice. Generally, NIP191 had started with a chill and relaxing atmosphere and made me looking forward to the next session.
